Suspect Accused Of (Laying Off Employees) Firing Gun Inside Bank Surrenders - Denver Channel

Why it's risky to wait when firing an employee

What to say when firing a jobholder carries with it the need to know what to say to the other workers. Others in your organization look to you as the company's employee termination expert. When you have one employee causing you daily frustration and driving down the results of your organization and firm, for whatever reason, you must continue with dismissal. o Cancel the worker's credit cards and phone cards. The personnel person should begin by calculating the reasons for separating the jobholder. You should ask the terminating supervisor for a recap of the lay off meeting and the events leading up to it. This is his day in court, so give him a chance to defend himself. Such information will serve to back-up the layoff and prove you based the layoff on solid reasons and not influenced by any suspect reasoning. To stay out of trouble, when a reference checker calls, only read her the cover story. The process creates stress not only for the personnel but also for you, as the boss.
